Why volunteer? well, it's groovy.
volunteer positions & RESPONSIBILITIES
Locate last name, first name of participant from alphabetized list. Locate bib number and t-shirt size. Pull these and give to participant. Let's face it. We need to know who is doing this event and you're the people that give us that info.
Have participant fill out manual registration form. Collect payment based on price list. Participant gets bib from timing co. Write bib number on registration form. This volunteer must be accurate and efficient and, well, fun. Nobody likes a Dan or Debbie Downer.
Course monitors cheer participants (pom poms are optional) along the way and ensure that participants do not get off course. Course monitors at final turn will be critical in letting participants know “they’re almost there”. Whooping and hollering encouraged.
WATER STOP MONITOR
Must be standing. Fill small paper cups with water. Place on hand, palm up, and allow participant to take from hand. Cups must be picked up after discarded by participant. You can dress in costume and sing to your heart's content or you can stand still. It's up to you as long as these participants get their water.
PARKING LOT ATTENDANT
Park cars and direct participants to where they need to be. You are the first volunteer participants see so energy, enthusiasm and a great attitude are important! We also recommend crazy big hair and cool, 70s clothes.
Ensure participants are not getting off course. Guiding participants is really critical so focus and energy are important. Feel free to wear tall tube socks and sunglasses.
